Here we have a publication for the dedicated Agatha Christie enthusiast. This book comprises five chapters of which three provide a detailed index or data base on, as the title describes, Miss Marple, associated characters and the murder mysteries that bind them together. Sensibly the author has confined his subject base to the Miss Marple titles alone as cross-referencing these titles became a marriage between a labour of love and a time consuming obsession. Once transfixed by the works of Agatha Christie, James Cresswell's background as a Chartered Engineer provided the ideal disciplined mind for a long methodical assessment of Agatha's own attention to detail regarding her wide ranging characters.

As the author himself states in Chapter 1, "the book was never intended to be a read and then kept on a bookshelf." He sees it as a guide into the ambience of the world of Miss Marple. As such, this reference book is ideally suited for two types of Agatha Christie readers.
